The Entrance

The Interior

The entrance is in Somerset Street between the two halves of Merriman House. There is an overhead bridge that connects the two sections. If you come by car from the Rhodes side of town, in Somerset Street, turn in to the right at the first break in the centre island after crossing African Street. If you come from the north side, after crossing the pedestrian crossing, it is the first turn in to the left (the next is African Street!). From the entrance proceed straight ahead. There is some parking around the bell tower circle or you may park in Somerset Street. The doors to the centre are just beyond the end of the Centenary Hall, on the right. The meeting room is on the lower ground floor, entrance through the workshop door.

Mr Keith van Winkel, Director of the Design & Technology Centre at St. Andrew's College, has asked that Members of the Grahamstown Woodworkers, should be made aware of the following safety issues:

None of the machines in the Centre may be used without prior permission.

Members should familiarise themselves with where the fire exits are (Large roll door to the wood workshop - key is always in the door; fire escape to the computer room in the passage; fire escape upstairs; and lastly the green exit door off the main work space downstairs on the West side of the Centre).
