At most meetings there will be a "FOR SALE" table for members to sell or swop tools or bundles of wood. Please mark items with your name and the price.

Also at most meetings there will be opportunities for members to "Show & Tell", or ask for advice on woodworking problems, or present "Workshop Tips".

A sub-group of members interested in learning more about woodturning is planning to hold regular meetings at Billy de Klerk's workshop. If you are interested please contact Billy.

The AGM was followed by three Show & Tell sessions:

Mike Brown described the restoration of a vintage wooden plane using oven cleaner to remove the grime.

BEFORE

AFTER
Andrew Stevens showed how he had cleaned a smaller wooden rebate plane using milder conditions (a meths/Scrubb's ammonia mixture).

Andrew Tracey showed some African-style wooden jewellery.

Billy de Klerk showed a large turned bowl.

These short presentations were followed by an illustrated talk by Manu Godfrey on :

"Eucalyptus in Brazil and what it is used for."

Photos from Manu's talk can be downloaded.

Manu is, unfortunately for us, soon to return to Brazil, but hopes to remain in contact. We wish him well.

Members who were not at the AGM are reminded that annual subscriptions remain at R70 and are payable (cash only!) to Chris Terry. Donations to the shared equipment fund are also welcome.
