Grahamstown Woodworkers

June 2018

Chris Terry hosted this month's meeting and demonstrated making a milkmaid's stool. This is round stool, with two broad, slightly angled legs held together by a wedged crosspiece. What Chris demonstrated was the value of good jigs that enabled all angled pieces to be cut accurately and consistently. He also demonstrated two ways of cutting the round top, either by band saw (with a jig again to run the piece of board in a circle) or by means of a router, with jig to allow it to pivot from the centre.
