Grahamstown Woodworkers

November 2015

The AGM of the Group was postponed to February 2015 to enable the November End-of-the-Year function to be a purely social occasion focussed on raising funds for Hospice.

The function was held on 10th November at the home of Billy and Vivian de Klerk.

About 30 members, their spouses and guests attended. Carl-Heinz Queisser represented Hospice and Kevin Lobb and his wife Adele were guests-of-honour. Kevin kindly assisted the Woodworkers in setting up this website, independent of the Rhodes University website.

Members brought with them a huge number of items (toys, clothing, household goods, books, etc.) for donation to the Hospice Shop and for Andrew's Auction - the main event of the evening.

John Keulder, as usual, took many superb photos of the events and some of these are shown below.

Carl-Heinz Queisser spoke briefly about the work done by Hospice.

Andrew Stevens did a terrific job as auctioneer, supported by Peter Breetzke, and by the end of the evening the amount raised for Hospice was about R6500.

Patty Zipp did her traditional Lucky Draw for items that she had collected from local firms and many members went away with generous prizes.

Members kindly assisted in transporting the unsold items for the Hospice Shop.
