Grahamstown Woodworkers

November 2018

The annual Grahamstown Woodworkers Fundraising Auction in aid of Grahamstown Hospice took place on 13th November at the home of Viv and Billy de Klerk.

Carl-Heinz Queisser represented Hospice and spoke briefly about the work being done at hospice and thanked the woodworkers for their continued support. Nikki Hayes, principal of Nombulelo Secondary School in Grahamstown, was also at the meeting, and spoke about a potential idea of getting a woodwork stream going at Nombulelo as there is a space with old woodwork benches.

Andrew Stevens was again an excellent auctioneer and at the end of the evening an amount of R10100 was raised for Hospice. A wide range of items were auctioned including tools, various wood, bowl blanks, and some handmade pieces members had made, including a beautiful two-seater swing seat bench made by John Kinnell from blackwood. Half way through the evening members enjoyed a bring and braai. And at the start of the evening Billy de Klerk and Rob Moss also demonstrated the use of a vacuum chuck.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the auction.
